This was another week where the wind and the weather were not cooperating with with local anglers looking to report their catches. The theme for the this week and for the upcoming New Year's weekend remains the same. The best fishing reports coming from Palm Beach and Jupiter all involved flying the kite with some lively goggle eyes. Anglers who were able to sneak in trips were rewarded with multiple shots at sailfish. One theme that was recurring in this week's fishing reports was the inclusion of a decent number of gaffer mahi. Be sure to pay attention to your flat lines and keep an eye open for the mahi under birds. The waning full moon should turn on an awesome wahoo bite this weekend so be sure to get out early and do some high speed trolling.
The inshore fishing has been a much better along the seawalls and the bridges. Anglers not having to fight the wind and seas can have a ton of fun bending a rod in the areas surrounding Jupiter.
The Palm Beach and Juno Surf fishing reports included a tremendous number of mackerel along the beaches. The mackerel fishing on the beaches of Singer Island has been excellent with those anglers throwing a gotcha or shiny coltsniper reporting lots of success. At the same time, the pompano bite has been on and off. We should see this trend continue and the fishing reports from our top surf fisherman in the Palm Beaches are advising the use of both frozen sand fleas on a pompano rig and fishbites.
