Look for Snook fishing to continue developing as the temps rise. Right now is a great time to get out Snook fishing because they are feeding on large mullet. Fishing with live mullet alone sea walls is a great way to catch a big Snook or big Jacks right now. Hit the bridges at night for the first half out of the outgoing tide and sweep bottom with Flair Hawk Jigs or large swimbaits to catch the Snook. Sandperch are still being reported from the Intracoastal Waterway on small pieces of frozen shrimp. The Sheepshead have began moving out, but a few were still caught this week and the Mangrove Snapper just started making appearances this weekend.
What is biting right now off of Jupiter, West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach? The Dolphin (Mahi Mahi) bite has steadily been very good for the past few weeks and this week did not fall short. The Dolphin were caught this week in the 300-400’ range mostly on trolled feathers or daisy chains tipped with ballyhoo, Bonita strips and squid. Some really nice weed lines and floating debris out there that the Dolphin seem to be holding tight to. Several Blackfin Tuna made a showing this week and guys were catching them while Dolphin fishing. Best reports of the Blackfin Tuna all said they were biting small daisy chains way back in the spread. The 120’ ledge is still holding a good number of Kingfish and more Cobia were reported from that same area this weekend. Bottom fishing was productive this week with of hauls of Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper reports coming in hot!
Good Pompano fishing reports coming from up and down the beaches this week on Goofy Jigs, sand fleas, FishBites and clam. Look for the Pompano to biting best first thing in the morning or right after high tide. Jupiter Inlet has had an exceptionally good Pompano bite this week as well on the Goofy Jigs. Some nice Snook were reported from Jupiter Inlet as well this week, caught on free lined live Croakers. The Croakers were biting well at the Juno Pier this week on shrimp and FishBites. Seems like catching a few Croakers for bait at Juno Pier in the morning and heading over to Jupiter Inlet to get in on some big Snook action is a great option right now!
