Look for the Snook to be making their ways towards the local inlets right now in preparation for their summertime spawn. Bridges that are closest to the inlets are the best places to start your hunt this time of year. With access being so limited currently, Snook reports have been few and far between, but if you can manage to find a spot and get out there, the Snook will be biting! They are keyed in on larger sized baitfish right now, so a Flair Hawk Jig or big Swimbait are both great options to get tight. With all the bait around inshore, expect some nice sized Jacks and Tarpon to be feeding around the inshore waters as well this week.
Great springtime fishing offshore taking place right now! The Sailfish bite is still surprisingly good for being this late in the season and there are a good amount of big bull Dolphin (Mahi Mahi) around spread out through a range of different depths. The Blackfin Tuna bite has been very good recently as well. Small feathers have been producing the most Blackfin Tuna, but the Yo-Zuri High Speed Vibe lure in the darker colors have been hooking up with some of the bigger ones. Kingfish action has been hot around the 120’ ledge and out to 150’ of water Jupiter, West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach. There have been numerous Cobia reported from this same depth zone this week as well.
Beach and pier access have been tough to find, but the fishing is really good for those who do! The Pompano have been biting will with a good number of keepers in the mix on FishBites, sand fleas, clam and Goofy Jigs. Whiting and Croakers are in the surf in good numbers as well right now biting on bits of shrimp. The snook have began showing up on the beach little by little and big schools of Jacks are being spotted in the surf just waiting to zip your drag!
